MHT-CET 2011

MHT-CET Engineering and Medical Entrance Exam

Every year, the Government of Maharashtra conducts the Common Entrance Test (MHT-CET). It is conducted by the Directorate of Technical Education. The degree courses of the following streams are mainly accounted for in this entrance exam:

  • Health Sciences
  • Engineering
  • Pharmacy

Eligibility

The students who have appeared for the HSC examination or its equivalent, and wish to pursue a career in the above mentioned fields are eligible to appear for MHT-CET. The result of MHT-CET plays a pivotal role in deciding in which college in Maharashtra state the student can possibly get an admission. A candidate should have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination with English, Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics with atleast 50% aggregate marks in PCM/PCB.There is 5% relaxation for Maharashtra backward classes. Candidates appearing for 10+2 examinations in 2011 can also apply.

MHT-CET Application Forms

There will be a common form for Engineering, Health Science and Pharmacy Courses. Application forms along with brochures for MHT-CET will be available at the schools/junior colleges of students where they have studied in Maharashtra. Candidates have to submit the completely filled application forms in their schools before the last date.

MHT-CET Exam Pattern

The entrance exam for engineering entrance will consist of two papers of 1 and a half hours each

  1. Physics & Chemistry(50+50 marks)
  2. Mathematics(100 marks) for those who opt for PCM and Biology(100 marks) for those who opt for PCB
  3. All the questions will be objective type with 4 options each. There will be no negative marking so the candidates are advised to attempt all the questions. The syllabus of the exam will be same as HSC Examination of Board of Maharashtra.

A Note of Caution:

It has been observed over the years that students tend to concentrate on either the HSC examination, or MHT-CET, while ignoring the other exam. While it is true that MHT-CET decides the future course of a student’s career, it is also true that the base of MHT-CET is the syllabus of 12th std. So it is imperative for the students to give proper importance to both the exams, and prepare for both equally well. This is one of the objectives at Ednexa, wherein we strive to help you to maintain a healthy balance between both the exams.

Class XI

The preparation of MHT-CET begins right from the 11th Standard, since it forms the base for the entrance exams. Hence it becomes very important for the students to master the concepts included in the syllabus of Class XI. The general tendency of students is to take the academic year of Class XI very lightly, as a result of which they have to suffer tremendous pressure in the Class XII while revising the concepts taught in previous year. This is exactly the opposite of the students who complete the Class XI course thoroughly, and pass the MHT-CET with flying colors. So we advise the Class XI students to focus on the basic concepts and learn them perfectly, so as to ease their work-load in Class XII.
